DTU has a wide range of various clubs and associations for both students and employees. This page represents some of the various clubs and associations with links to their respective websites, some of the websites might be in Danish only and do not have information in english. Polyteknisk Forening (PF)
Polyteknisk Forening (PF) is the organization of students at DTU. The association consists of students and works in the interest of the students at DTU. As a student you often encounter PF. For instance they arrange fresher’s trips, they run the S-House (S-Huset) and as a result of that they organize a lot of social activities such as hobby-clubs, Friday-rock (Fredags-rock) and fun run. Plus more serious tasks, for instance being in charge of the recommendations for dormitories in the campus area in Lyngby.
S-Huset (The S-House)
S-Huset is the house of the students at DTU. This is where the students can meet and relax with a cup of coffee in the lunchbreak or take a beer after lectures. S-Huset plays a key role within the study environment at DTU, because the house is for the students. There are many game facilities, for instance smooker, billards, tablesoccer, shuffleboard plus a broad variety of board games. S-Huset also has a café called Kaffehuset, in which you can buy various goodies and ticket coupons, and also has a fireplace lounge and a study hall. De Studerendes Erhvervskontakt - DSE (The Student Business Contact)
De Studerendes Erhvervskontakt is the students business-contact, it is an independent, non-political and economic self-supporting association. DSE is represented at DTU and Aalborg University (AAU). The objective of the association is to generate dialogue which makes it possible for the students and the business community to keep updated about the development within each others' fields, and to form contact between students and companies regarding for instance projects, internship or jobs. Among other things DSE arrange trade shows and different Focus-evenings at DTU.
Krydsfelt (Student magazine)
Krydsfelt was established in 2005 as a magazine written by students for the students; it is the magazine in which you can read about study environment, professional projects, students politics, parties and other events – plus all the other things having to do with the study environment at DTU. All students are welcome to give a hand with the production of Krydsfelt, and writers, photographers, people with graphic layout skills, and students with oblique stories they would like to tell others, are always needed.
Polyteknisk KollegieSelskab - PKS (Student Housing Organization)
Polyteknisk KollegieSelskab (PKS) is a non-profit cooperative society founded by a group of dormitories and managed by an unsalaried board, in which representatives of dormitory boards and residents form the majority. The task of PKS is to manage dormitories and to assist in establishing new ones. PKS is a desirable student housing organization for students in Denmark.
BEST
BEST is a European organization which arranges short summer courses at technical universities around Europe. The primary purpose is not so much the academic impact as is the social contact; A maximum of two students from the same country is one of the criteria of the screening among the applicants for the courses, so you get to know as many different people as possible in a short period of time. It is a concentrated amount of fun and games, which at the same time offers you the opportunity to experience different cities in Europe, establish a professional European network, and learn a little about a new subject in a relaxed environment.
IAESTE
IAESTE is an association which manage the international exchange programs of Danish and foreign students with a technical and scientific education at home and abroad. The association was founded in 1948 with the purpose of furthering a better understanding between countries and cultures.
Grøn Vision (Green Vision)
Grøn Vision is a student driven organisation, that wish to improve the education of scientific courses at the danish high schools. The organsation produces teaching ressources which process current technologies and subjects that will give the students an insight into the work of, for instance, an engineer. Besides the production of teaching materials, Grøn Vision arrange Science Camps for High School students, and is also represented at Roskilde Festival where the organisation presents Green Technology and sustainability to the festival guest.
Idrætten ved DTU (Sports at DTU)
The objective of Idrætten ved DTU is to advance the exercise of sport in the range of competition and exercises for students and employees at DTU. Under certain circumstances the association can allow others to use the sport facilities at DTU. Idrætten ved DTU offers both indoor and outdoor sports.
Stardust-DTU
Stardust-DTU is an entrepreneurial organization and network for students at DTU. The organization is nonprofit that focuses on promoting an entrepreneurial and innovative environment for students through events and workshops – all free of charge. Stardust-DTU has the sole purpose of encouraging and providing knowledge for entrepreneurial students. Raises awareness about student entrepreneurship and enables students to take part in an ever growing entrepreneurial network at both a local and national level.
Copenhagen Management Consulting Club
The aim of CPH Management Consulting Club is to create a foundation that will facilitate learning and development of students’ analytical skills and presentation skills, while familiarizing themselves with the consulting industry.
This foundation is created through a number of events provided by CPH Management Consulting Club in collaboration with the industry’s consultancies, where insights will be given to for instance specific problem solving techniques, industry frameworks, interview skills etc. The members of the club represents a blend of driven students from 21 master programmes and 8 bachelor programmes, who are unified by a shared interest in the industry and their desire to excel.
We encourage all students with a desire in developing themselves and meeting likeminded peers to apply for the club.
DTU Kor (DTU Choir)
The DTU Choir is a university choir for faculty, staff, and students. The choir is led by Torben Eskildsen who has performed as a singer at the Sydney Opera House, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and at the Versailles Opera, among other places. The choir first met on 21 September and continues to meet every Tuesday during the teaching semester 16:30-18:00 in the Glass Hall, Building 101, DTU Lyngby. If you would like to join the choir, come to the rehearsal on a Tuesday evening and sign up for the group ”Universitetskoret DTU” on CampusNet.
KlaverForum (PianoForum)
PianoForum DTU is a meetingplace for all employees and students who is interested in exercising piano music. The idea behind PianoForum DTU is to create a setting for employees and students interested in piano music, to meet and inspire each other. The members of PianoForum DTU are practised beginners who enjoys to meet likemined peers and play, listen and discuss. Typically there will be played Classical music, Jazz and improvisations. One does not have to be a Virtuoso to become a member, but it is required to be a bit above beginners level. PianoForum DTU is organized by fellow Ole Christensen from DTU Mathmatics. DTU's Kunstforening (DTU’s Art association)
The purpose of the art association of DTU is to pursue the interest of art and artistic expression, and by so doing impart to an artistic dimension to the technique. The association has a social function across institutes, employment, field of study and other affiliation to DTU. The association arranges exhibitions and events during the year.
Polyteknisk Keramikklub (PF Ceramics Club)
The Ceramics Club is a creative and cosy club at DTU where you can shape, design and glaze things in clay, and give cups, jugs, bowls and sculptures your own personal touch. There is no teacher associated, but we will help you get started and give you good advices if needed. The Ceramics Club has a clubnight every tuesday from 7 pm in the workshop behind Kælderbaren (the basement bar) in building 101, but as a member you can use the workshop on all weekdays.
PF Foto (PF Photo Club)
PF Photo is a photo club for students, employees, and graduates from DTU. The club has darkrooms –with free black/white developer – as well as colour printing equipment at its disposal.
Furthermore, we have a well-equipped photo studio, an A2 printer, and a cosy clubroom conveniently located by the Kælderbar (Basement Bar) in building 101.
Regular club meetings are on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm, where members are welcome to pop in and meet fellow photo enthusiasts. As a member you get your own key to all our facilities, so you can use the equipment whenever you want.
The club frequently arranges excursions and workshops on e.g. analogue processing, studio lightning and Photoshop.
PF Auto
PF-Auto consists of DTU students and graduate masters. The association has a well equipped garage at its disposal, where you can execute the most common car reparations. Among other things there are lifts, welders, a bench lathe and a spray-paint booth. The association has approximately 300 members; there is almost always something going on at the garage and easy access to help, if you wish to try something new.
Polyteknisk Flyvegruppe - PFG (The Polytechnic Glider Club)
Founded in 1943, the Polytechnic Glider Club is one of the oldest glider clubs in Denmark. The majority of the members are either students or graduates from DTU. Several of our members participate in competitions such as the Danish Championship and the nationwide glide contest: the TERMIK-league. Furthermore, the club arranges travels abroad to allow our member to experience a different sort of gliding than in Denmark.
The club has a fleet of six gliders and one homemade motor tug aircraft. We have our own garage at DTU’s main campus in Lyngby as well as a spacious clubhouse at an airfield near Kalundborg.
Afdelingen for træ og metal - ATM (The Wood and Metal Workshop)
ATM is a wokshop association that dispose over a large and well equipped workshop for working in both woods and metals. It is possible to produce anything from precision mechanics to machine work. As a member of ATM you will have access to the facilities 24 hours a day - all year round. The association has a club night every tuesday between 7.30 and 10pm at the clubroom in the S-House, where anyone interested is welcome to stop by. A membership of ATM cost 250 kr. per year.
