Department of Civil Engineering (Byg), conducts research concentrated in the areas of Planning and Management of Building Processes, Structural Engineering, Construction Materials, Geotechnics and Building Energy and Services.
Our focus is on design of civil engineering structures, structural performance, integrated structural and materials modelling, integration of design and production, urban management, production engineering, fire safety engineering, building materials (concrete, wood, steel and glass), building physics, solar energy and building energy and services.
DTU Bygcontributes with development of contructional knowledge for added value both socially and commercially. DTU Byg provides public sector consultancy on e.g. builings regulations, Digital Construction, the statics engineer arrangement and working wnvironment on building sites.
The vision of the department is to become one of Europe´s leading Civil Engineering institutions and through this becoming a preferred partner in collaborations with companies and institutions in the building sector.
DTU Byg hosts ARTEK, Centre for Artic Technology, ICIEE, Centre for Indoor Environment and Energy and C•ProSam, Centre for Protective Structures and Materials and LavEByg, a network of professionals from the builing industry and knowledge institutions working on Integrated Low Energy Solutions in Buildings.
