DTU Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering conducts research in fundamental mechanics, advanced design tools, product development, energy systems, coastal hydraulics and maritime techniques.

Our primary focus is on energy engineering, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, indoor environment, engineering design and product development as well as coastal, maritime and structural engineering.

We offer research co-operation and provide advisory services to companies and authorities. Typical DTU Mechanical Engineering projects are analyses and dimensioning of structural designs and mechanical systems, efficient exploitation of renewable energy sources, efficient energy transformation, energy transport and energy consumption.

Our activities also include the development of industrial products and land-based and naval structures, targeting ship safety, routing, risk of collisions or emission from ships.

DTU Mechanical Engineering places great emphasis on integrated product development and on the development of a rational foundation for structural design.
