I am acting head of the Division of Toxicology and Risk
Assessment.
The Division of Toxicology and Risk Assessment works on promoting
health and preventing illness by performing research, teaching and
advising authorities on the human effects of chemical substances
and naturally occurring compounds in our food and environment. The
Division employs approximately 65 employees and offers an inspiring
working environment.
In addtion, I head the group "Alternatives to Animal
Testing" at the National Food Institute performing research
in development of QSAR models, an in vitro battery
approach as well as mechanistic understanding of toxicity and
benefits of food and environmental compounds.
I investigate how cell-based in vitro models can determine and
describe endocrine disrupting and developmental adverse effects. In
addition, I perform research of mechanisms of endocrine
disrupting chemicals by studying hormone levels, gene
expressions as well as obesity and immunological parameters in
exposed animals and in human cohorts.
I provide governmental advice for the Danish EPA regarding the use
of in vitro models and participate in the expert group under
OECD, VMG-non animal, as well as in the Danish platform for
alternatives, DACOPA. |
