Foodborne diseases are an important cause of human illness
worldwide. Humans acquire these infections from a variety of
sources and routes of transmission.
Several control programs have been implemented both international
and in the Denmark, with the aim to monitor and control the
occurrence of foodborne zoonoses along the whole food production
chain, from primary production, through slaughtering, processing
and retail, to consumption.
Throughout my career, m
y
research has been focused on issues related to monitoring and
prevention of endemic diseases/ antimicrobial usage in animals
and zoonotic infections. During my career, I have gained
experience in designing observational research
studies. Further I
have implemented and applied advanced statistical and
mathematical methods in a risk assessment context and in relation
to surveillance of pathogens in the food production chain. I have
cooperate with colleagues on projects focusing on the development
of diagnostic tests, and thereby obtained experiences in
evaluation the performance of diagnostic tests utilized in
surveillance of infections.
