A student's grades form one of many parameters considered when processing applications for admission as well as for the distribution of grants, and a number of standardized methods of presenting final grades have therefore been established. However, since a single method will always favour some applicants over others who may have different academic backgrounds, three different grades for the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees each must be submitted on the copy of the diploma or certificate:
- Weighted average: In calculating the average, each grade is weighed against the number of points given for each course. Grades given for the thesis are not included. See the diagram below.
- Bachelor and master thesis grades and any interim grades.
- Pass/fail courses with a statement of the number of non-grade-awarding courses that have been passed in percentage of the total number of credit courses.
Holders of a Master's degree who do not have a bachelor's degree should state this on the Application form.
