Application Procedure

Applicants for MSc programs at DTU must apply using our online application form. NB: The online form is only compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer  The online application form can be accessed here

 

 The application deadline for the academic year 2012/2013 is 1st March 2012.

 

 

Application Procedure

When applying for admission, you must provide evidence of your academic attainments and proficiency in English. Properly certified photocopies of relevant documents must be enclosed with the application. Certificates and academic transcripts in languages other than Danish, English, Norwegian or Swedish must be accompanied by a certified translation into one of those four languages. TOEFL or IELTS certificates must be original and sent to DTU from the test centre directly.  

 

 

Application Selection Procedure

Applications are assessed by the MSc Program Steering Groups, which are made up of faculty members. On the basis of the documents submitted, the Steering Group evaluates each applicant's ability to complete the MSc program successfully in two years. Notification of acceptance is made after the official application deadline. DTU’s decision is final.

 

Please include the following documents in your application: 

  • A signed copy of online application form
  • A photocopy of your passport
  • A certified photocopy* of BSc or MSc diploma in a relevant subject** (deadline for submission is 28 August)
  • A certified photocopy* of academic transcript**
  • A certified photocopy* of diploma supplement or a description of the grade scale used at your university
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Two academic letters of reference in English (originals or certified copies*)
  • IELTS/TOEFL (must be sent directly from the test centre) NB: see section on Language Test Requirements (deadline for submission is 1 August)
  • Documentation of relevant work experience (optional)
  • Proof of funds (only relevant for non-EU citizens. Tuition fee payers should also inform us how they plan to finance their studies and stay in Denmark. They are therefore requested to submit proof of funds of 50 000 DKK. This can for example be a bank statement, or a scholarship/grant letter)
  • A copy of your Danish, Swedish, Norwegian or Finnish residence permit if you hold one

BSc degree from a Danish University or University College

You should apply online and submit the following documents to us:

  • A copy of online application form
  • A photocopy of passport
  • A certified photocopy* of BSc** and MSc** diploma in a relevant subject*** (deadline for submission is 28 August)
  • A  certified photocopy* of academic transcript***
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • An IELTS/TOEFL**** (must be sent directly from the test centre) NB: see section on Language Test Requirements (deadline for submission is 1 August)
  • Proof of funds (only relevant for non-EU citizens. Tuition fee payers should also inform us how they plan to finance their studies and stay in Denmark. They are therefore requested to submit proof of funds of 50 000 DKK. This can for example be a bank statement, or a scholarship/grant letter)

If your degree is a Diplomingeniør from a Danish higher education institution please refer to the following information regarding entry requirements to DTU. Please click on the MSc program you wish to study. Students with a Professionsbachelor degree that is not a Diplomingeniør degree do not fulfill the entry requirements to the MSc programs at DTU.

 

 

* A certified copy is a photocopy of an original document with an endorsement (typically a stamp and original signature) that it is a true copy of the original document.

** DTU may contact the applicant’s degree awarding institution in order to verify the submitted documents.

 

 

If you have not enclosed a copy of your diploma and/or IELTS/TOEFL language test score, your application will still be processed provided that you have enclosed a transcript.

 

Please do not add any staples, paper clips, plastic pockets, ring binders or more than one envelope when sending us your application.

 

 

If you are a citizen from outside the EU/EEA you are required to pay a 100 EUR application fee before your application is processed. Please refer to the section on application fees.  

 

 

Only complete applications with certified documents will be processed.

The admission procedure for the Elite programs is as follows:

In your statement of purpose please indicate why you have chosen to apply for the Elite Program.  

  • If admitted to DTU you will receive an Admission Letter.
  • Your admission to the Elite Program depends on your exam results after the first semester at DTU.
  • You will be invited to an interview with the Director of Studies and if you are found suitable for the Elite Program your admission can be finalized
  • If you are not accepted onto the Elite Program you have the opportunity to follow the standard MSc Program that you applied for.

 

Deferral of studies

DTU does not offer deferral or postponement of studies for a year or more.

Admitted students who are unable to take up their places at the university are required to re-apply for entrance the following year. The applications will be treated as new applications. Students are required to send all required documents, adhere to the deadline and pay the necessary fees once more.
