Title: Progress on high baudrate IM/DD links

Abstract:

Datacentres experience enormous traffic growth due to the vast amount of data to be stored transmitted and processed. Thus, technical and economic challenges arise to keep up bandwidth scalability. Solution for 400 GbE based on two optical lanes using higher bandwidth components may be more attractive to reduce cost, complexity of parallelism and power consumption.

In this talk, report on several experimental demonstrations for short reach optical interconnects in C-band will be presented. Demonstrations of up to 200 Gbit/s on-off keying (OOK), 4-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) and discrete multitone (DMT) transmission with a cost-efficient monolithically integrated externally modulated laser (EML) with large bandwidth will be reviewed.
