Study environment

Acoustic Technology's study environment is dominated by the fact that the students enrolled in the MSc programme Engineering Acoustics during a two-year period follow practically all the courses on acoustics. They often supplement with special courses and carry out their MSc theses here. Thus, at any time there are two 'generations' of MSc students having their daily life in building 352.

Lola Blanchard, DTU Electrical Engineering

Lola Blanchard says:

"Acoustic Technology is a great place to learn about almost every field of acoustics with a whole group of nice and helpful teachers and good facilities. As I enjoyed being a master student at Acoustic Technology, I chose to keep going with an Industrial PhD in electroacoustics. I am currently working on high quality concha headphones with Bang&Olufsen ICEpower."

Efrén Fernandez Grande, DTU Electrical Engineering

Efrén Fernandez Grande says:

"Studying at Acoustic Technology has been a priceless experience for me both academically and personally. I came to study the Engineering Acoustics MSc degree. Since the very first moment here, I found an excellent study environment allowing me to make the most of such an experience as it is to study abroad.

I am really satisfied with the MSc programme, the variety and the quality of the courses, the teaching methods, the academic level and the good atmosphere among colleagues and people involved in the department."

Yu Luan says:

Yu Luan, DTU Electrical Engineering

"I am impressed by the good study environment at Acoustic Technology.

Software

The students feel free to go into any teacher’s office at anytime to ask questions. This cannot be imagined in certain departments or at other universities, where students usually have to book an appointment.

Hardware

There are lots of advanced equipment supporting almost all kinds of projects in acoustics. We even have  a huge anechoic room."

Elisabet Tiana Roig says:

Elisabet Tiana Roig, DTU Electrical Engineering

"I came to Denmark to follow the MSc programme in Engineering Acoustics. Here, I've got the chance of learning many different topics in acoustics. This knowledge combined with the nice environment of the department made my experience at DTU the best choice."

David Santos Domíngues, DTU Electrical Engineering

David Santos Domínguez says:

"During my second year, one of my teachers in Spain told me about the great staff and the facilities at the Technical University of Denmark. Because I am also a musician, I got really impressed by the opportunity of going to Denmark to learn more about acoustics technology side to side with the best technology available and the most relevant figures in the field. Three years later I was in Denmark preparing my master's thesis at DTU assisted by the Erasmus programme.

In the beginning I stayed in the Campus Village on campus. This place was the best chance to meet people from all over the world (USA, Singapore, China, Mexico, India, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Poland, Greece, Spain, Switzerland, France, Brazil etc). I got unforgettable friends and experienced world cultures on a small piece of land.

I started my project at Acoustics Technology, and I got access to the entire facilities available at the department: my own working place, the laboratories, the latest technology, the amazing research database and the best team of supervisors formed by leading personalities in the acoustics field.

After some research and valuable discussions with my supervisors, I reached a prototype for my project. I received all the support that one can dream of, not only financially, but also technically, theoretically and emotionally. All resulted in a working system for my project with conditions that I never thought were possible for a master's thesis project, because the department worked as a team where there was always space for a good and helpful discussion. I’m quite sure that I was able to make a successful project because of the place where I was and the people who worked there.

Ok, to be honest, I didn’t spend all my time working at the department. It would be a mistake, because Denmark has a wide variety of possibilities: the nightlife, the parks, the summer parties, the beaches, the visits to Sweden, Christiania jam sessions, the Copenhagen jazz festival, the Carnival, the ‘Midnight sun’, Roskilde festival, the Opera House, Distortion festival, the Vikings, the canals, the boat trips, the snow, the castles, the international parties, the Danes, Tivoli gardens, the museums, the architecture, the design and tons of unforgettable histories.

Denmark has changed my life, and I know I have experienced things that made me a better person so, what are you waiting for?"
