The Centre for Applied Hearing Research (CAHR) was established in 2003 to conduct fundamental and applied research with focus on human speech communication, auditory processing and perception, hearing impairment and hearing instruments. CAHR is a research centre within the Hearing Systems (HEA) group at DTU Elektro.
The faculty and Ph.D.-students at CAHR are involved in the teaching activities of Hearing Systems, involving courses on Acoustic Communication, Digital Signal-Processing, Technical Audiology, and Auditory Signal-Processing and Perception. CAHR is also involved in supervision of B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. projects.
The Centre for Applied Hearing Research (CAHR) is a centre at DTU Electrical Engineering. The purpose of the centre is to promote research and education witin the field of acoustic communication with emphasis on:
- Signal processing principles in the human auditory system
- Perceptual consequences of hearing impairment
- Functional models of auditory processing and perception
- Applications of auditory models in hearing instruments
- Measurement and diagnosis of auditory function
- Technical audiology
- Speech perception
The centre is supported by three Danish hearing-aid companies Oticon, Widex and GN Resound and their foundations. The centre employs about 20 staff members.
