Maternity/paternity leave

If you are employed at DTU
The Office for HR, Personnel Administration, must be informed of maternity leave no later than three months before expected birth and paternity leave no later than four weeks before expected birth. PhD students employed at DTU are covered by the maternity/paternity regulations that apply to all employees at DTU. DTU's guidelines on this can be found at on DTU Inside.

If you are employed in a company
If you are only enrolled at DTU but not employed, you may request an extension of the study period due to maternity/paternity leave. If you would like to extend the study period, you must submit the following documentation to the department where you are carrying out your project:

  • Birth certificate
  • Confirmation from the company of the maternity/paternity leave period

Questions regarding taking maternity/paternity leave should be directed to the company of employment. Questions regarding extension of the study period should be directed to the PhD Office.
 
If you are not employed by DTU or a company
If you are only enrolled at DTU but not employed, you may request an extension of the study period due to maternity/paternity leave. If you would like to extend the study period, you must submit the following documentation to the department where you are carrying out your project:

  • Birth certificate
  • Information about the dates for the maternity/paternity leave period
