Language test requirements

According to the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science (Order no. 583 of 01 June 2014, paragraph 7), all non-Danish citizens who apply for admission to English taught MSc programmes are required to provide documentation of English language proficiency comparable with ‘English B-level’ from a Danish upper-secondary school.  

This can be documented in the following three ways and must be received no later than the dates specified here: Admission and deadlines

All language tests are verified online. If DTU experiences any problems verifying your language test we will contact you for further information.

If you are applying for a Nordic Five Tech programme, please note that special language requirements apply. For further information, please follow this link.

Language requirements: 

1. By an IELTS (ACADEMIC), TOEFL, Cambridge Advanced English or Pearson (ACADEMIC) test.
Note that IELTS, TOEFL, and Pearson tests are valid for two years.

*Only if you take the TOEFL test, please remember to mention DTU's TOEFL code (1684) at the TOEFL webpage before the test, to ensure that DTU can verify the scores online. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that DTU has access to the online score.  

**If you take the Cambridge Advanced English (CAE), please make sure to upload your Confirmation of Entry and Timetable to your application.

DTU will not make any exceptions to these test scores. If a conditionally admitted student cannot meet these test scores, DTU will not be able to enrol him/her.

2. By documentation of an undergraduate degree or documentation of citizenship from one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, and USA. Please note that applicants with an undergraduate degree from any other country must submit a language test (special exemptions apply for Nordic Citizens - please see below).  

3. Nordic citizens can also document their English proficiency in the following way: 
By documentation from your upper secondary school/ high school that the English at your high school level is comparable (please refer to the Skema til omregning af fagniveauer for nordiske eksaminer) with the English B - level in Denmark. You must upload your upper secondary/high school academic transcript.
