DTU moves up in ranking

In the recently published The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) DTU is placed in the 101-150 category on the overall ranking of the world top 500 universities. This is an improvement on 2013, when DTU was ranked in the 151-200 category.

Overall, Shanghai ranks DTU as number 8 in the Nordic region and number 43 in Europe.

Within the specific field of technical science (engineering), DTU is ranked 1 in the Nordic region, 6 in Europe, and 40 in the world.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) is conducted by researchers at the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (CWCU). ARWU uses six objective indicators to rank world universities:

  • number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals
  • number of highly cited researchers selected by Thomson Reuters
  • number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science
  • number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index
  • Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index
  • per capita performance of a university
