DTU most cited university in Nordic Region

In a recently published report from NordForsk, DTU is ranked number one in citations among 61 Nordic research institutions—both when measuring citation impact and the share of the top 10 per cent most cited research publications in the world for the period 2000-2011.

The newly published report from NordForsk, entitled ‘Comparing Research at Nordic Universities Using Bibliometric Indicators’, reveals, among other things, that DTU performs well in ‘citation impact’ and the share of the top 10 per cent most cited research publications in the world.

The report covers research publications in the period 2000-2011 using data from the Thomson Reuters Science Citation Index.

President Anders Bjarklev is pleased with the report:

“With our brand new strategy, we have set some very ambitious goals here at DTU, including that we must be among the top five technical universities in Europe. But being among the best can be based on many different parameters. That DTU—as the report shows—is doing so well in terms of citations, makes me very optimistic and hopeful that we can realize our ambitious visions. The report states that we are right at the top on one of the very significant parameters, namely research and its ability to create an impact.”

The report also features detailed lists of selected research areas.
