The Greenland ice sheet has raised sea levels by over 4 metres

A new study in Science Advances has shown that the melting ice sheet is responsible for a much bigger rise in global sea levels than previously assumed.

The upper trimline (transition) between the ligther and darker valley sides marks the extent of the glacier during the Little Ice Age, while the lower lines shows the extent at later points in time. The height of the trimline is derived from aerial imagery, and this information is used to calculate the mass loss of the Greenland Ice Sheet during the twentieth century.
