Keywords Stochastic Control Theory | Kalman filtering and state estimation | System identification and parameter estimation | Fautl diagnosis and fault detection | Modelling and control of wind turbines and parks

Niels Kjølstad Poulsen works with modelling and control of dynamic systems involving stochastic disturbances and other types of uncertainty. A very important aspect is system identification in which the system parameters are estimated from experimental data. The optimal control of a dynamic system takes the uncertainty and the constraints into account. Often the control will be based on an estimate of the system state (e.g. with a Kalman filter). State and parameter estimation have its ovn relevance in connection to e.g. navigation and fault diagnosis. Niels Kjølstad Poulse has a broad application area including modelling and control of wind turbines and their integration in the energy production. Another important application area is robotics and especially autonous vehicles.
