Center for Life Long Learning at DTU 
DTU has committed to an ambitious plan to develop and expand professional education for the whole university - through the launch of DTU’s new Center for Life Long Learning on 1 February 2019. The new Center is a strategic priority and will be DTU’s united platform for all forms of part-time or continuing education for graduates and members of the public who wish to up-skill or re-qualify at a later point in their career. It will employ continuing education to showcase DTU’s technologies and know-how to the public - and reach out to industry and the rest of the world, inviting them to DTU.

A once in a lifetime opportunity
The new director of Center for Life Long Learning will report directly to DTU’s Dean of Graduate Studies and International Affairs, and will be directly responsible for 20 employees within the Center and the development of continuing educational programs in collaboration with all of DTU’sacademic and teaching staff.

The challenging overall tasks of the new director will be:

  • Developing and implementing the Center strategy – from the creation of a “cutting edge” market profile to the tuning of the organizational setup.
  • Sourcing of the external funding required to support the ambitious growth plan.
  • Creating the business critical internal collaboration with other centers, institutes and key people – and making strong strategic relations with other universities, authorities, interest groups and companies.
  • Managing the employees at the Center for Life Long Learning– defining clear ambitions and goals, shaping a unifying culture, creating meaningful workflows, as well as ensuring individual motivation and development. 
Entrepreneur and business minded
We seek an individual with sufficient seniority and experience to contribute to the development tasks - both on a strategic and operational level. The following characteristics would fit the optimal candidate:
  • senior management experience in the development of new strategic business in established companies - either through having been responsible for such development or as a manager of an established organization undergoing such change.
  • ability to understand a university and the unique mechanisms on how the organization as a whole and the individuals works.
  • sublime networker, with theexperience to interact with top management of foundations, organizations, companies, universities and authorities. 
We expect you to be a senior manager from industry - and you are now seeking new meaning by being a part of something big in a large and complex organization. You are preferably a member of a company board or are used to working closely with high levels of industry management. You have well documented experience in developing new business. Alternatively you are an experienced and entrepreneurial top manager from universities or similar education entities, who wants to create something completely new and contribute to positioning DTU at the forefront of professional education.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on qualifications and the collective agreement of the Danish Professional Associations (AC) and guideline “Cirkulære om institutledere og dekaner ved universiteterne”.

The Center for Life Long Learning will be launched the First of February 2019 and will develop the market for continuing education offered by DTU. Academic staff working with the Center will be from DTU’s Departments, and carefully chosen external experts. The Center will be a market oriented one-stop-shop for all DTU’s continuing educational activities. It will provide support for academic staff wishing to use the Center, in the form of market development, advertising, customer relations, and business advice. It will offer attractive continuing education packages, responding to societal needs.
