The position
The System Analysis Division is part of Management Engineering – one of the biggest departments of the Technical University of Denmark. Systems Analysis is an internationally well-established division doing high level research within energy, transport, climate change, urban systems, and sustainable development. The division develops and applies methods from systems modelling, economics, econometrics, statistics, spatio-temporal analysis, and value chain studies. The division has a staff of approximately 80, including 20 PhD students, with competences in a range of related disciplines with a dominance of engineering and economics.

Your primary responsibilities: 

  • Overall management responsibility for approximately 80 employees, including group leaders, who will take a part of the management responsibility
  • Overall responsibility for the long-term goals and activities of the System Analysis division  
  • Facilitate the right environment for talented researchers to thrive and continuously strengthen the quality of their research, teaching and societal impact.
  • Finding and recruiting excellent scholars and developing young talents to the level of excellence
  • Secure that the funding portfolio sustains the long-term goals of the division
  • Work closely together with management of the Management Engineering department – as well as the heads of the other divisions in the department – and support the overall strategy
  • Support the strong emphasis of DTU on internal collaboration and establishing strategic research partnerships with external and international partners
Your qualifications: 
  • Excellent people management skills – obtained from leadership positions within the academic world or research management in the industry
  • Experience and relevant results in strategic management
  • A scientific background at least at the level of a PhD plus some years of (e.g. post doc) research and a passion for academic research is necessary
  • Experience from outside the academic world is welcomed
  • Experience from recruiting and developing talents and facilitating the creation of an environment of excellence
  • Ambitious and prepared to work on long-term goals
  • Strong communicative skills will be an asset

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be on a permanent basis and based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations.
