A PhD position within our research efforts on enzymatic conversion of alternative carbon-sources for value added biochemicals is available April 1 2017.

Responsibilities and tasks
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with an MSc degree in biotechnology or chemical and biochemical engineering. The employment is at The Technical University of Denmark, Center for BioProcess Engineering, Dept. of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.  

The PhD study will be conducted with the aim of discovering new enzymes and providing a new understanding of kinetics of forward and reverse enzymatic reactions in the context of the target reactions, and for creation of an improved scientific/engineering base for innovative technology development of biocatalytic concepts targeting climate goals. The position requires a solid theoretical and practical foundation in protein engineering, documented experience with analysis and modelling of large data sets, and a knowledge foundation in high tech entrepreneurship.  

Only candidates with a minimum of 1/3 PhD scholarship from DTU Chemical Engineering will be considered. The PhD position is conditional with respect to the candidate being approved by DTU’s Central PhD committee in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering. 

Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering.  

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
