Postdoc Michal Fereczkowski and PhD student Borys Kowalewski from the Hearing Systems group participated in the 2016 Open Seminar on Acoustics, which took place on September 12-16 in Bialowieza, Poland.

Every year since 1953, the conference has been a meeting of Polish acousticians and covers a broad range of topics, including physical acoustics, ultrasonics, architectural acoustics, noise control, speech and psychoacoustics. Michal and Borys gave poster presentations regarding their recently developed methods in hearing science: fast threshold estimation and fitting auditory models to individual data.

"This conference is a great opportunity to get to know the Polish community and investigate some collaboration opportunities"
Michal Fereczkowski, Postdoc

"It's about both science and networking. Because I only studied acoustic-related topics in Denmark, the conference is a great opportunity for me to get to know the Polish community and, possibly, investigate some collaboration opportunities." says Michal.

"Since the Hearing Systems group is very international, we are able to extend our network to different local scientific communities. Each year, our German colleagues go to DAGA, Spanish attend Tecniacustica and we decided to go to OSA this year. The idea was to meet more Polish experts, show our research and learn what others do. Plus, the Bialowieza forest is a lovely place and the home of the European bison!" Borys adds.
