Research activities at the Decision Modelling Group
The Decision Modelling Group has the following overall research objective:
To establish a technical modelling foundation for decision support that can provide better future decision support systems and improve traffic planning and evaluation.
To obtain this overall research objective a number of inter-dependent research tasks have been formulated:
1. |
Development of practice-oriented evaluation techniques and accompanying theory foundation on the basis of cost-benefit analysis (CBA) and multi-criteria analysis (MCA).
2. |
Optimisation of modelling approach for application on concrete cases.
3. |
Development of prognosis models based on alternative scenarios.
4. |
Development of models to assess the overall uncertainty in large modelling systems.
5. |
Concepts and methodology of strategic transport management (STM).
6. |
Development of an adequate theory of planning that can facilitate the use of decision support systems in the general planning process. In this task technical-scientific modelling is examined within a systems science approach to planning. This enables, among other things, that questions with a focus on policy- and application issues can be considered together with considerations about basic research paradigms.
