Division of Risk Assessment and Nutrition, DTU National Food Institute is looking for a researcher in nutritional and public health epidemiology and population based surveys to join the research group of Nutrition and Public Health. The research group currently plans the next national dietary survey. The group has strong focus on diet, nutrition and public health and we see our future as fully integrating these three strands of research. The group has 25 years of experience in conducting the Danish National Surveys of Diet and Physical Activity which provide data for nutrition and risk assessment. The group also has a strong track record in providing the scientific background for dietary and nutritional guidelines, and for developing and evaluating strategies for promoting healthy and sustainable dietary habits.

The position as a researcher is a permanent entry-level position.

Responsibilities and tasks
The successful applicant will contribute with the planning and implementation of the next Danish National Survey of Diet and Physical Activity in 2019-2021. This includes finalizing survey instruments and protocols including the dietary assessment tool, the digital step diary, anthropometrics, interviewer instructions, plans and logistics for bio sampling, measurements kit for our interviewers in the field, etc.

The position also includes:

  • Data handling, and statistical analyses of data
  • Contributing to the writing of manuscripts, abstracts and reports documenting study findings
  • Writing grant applications
  • Advisory tasks for authorities and other stakeholders within the area of nutrition and public health
  • Teaching and supervision of bachelor and master students
  • Applicant’s own research and development of the field
  • A Phd or similar research experience, in nutrition, public health, epidemiology or a related field is preferred.
  • Solid experience in statistical analysis of data from large nutrition and public health related observational studies is required.
  • Experience with cleaning and quality assurance of data is required.
  • Evidence of a publication record is desirable.
  • Experience in carrying out pre-survey work, including developing survey infrastructure is desirable.
  • The candidate should be able to work cross disciplinary but also independently.
  • Excellent skills in both Danish and English, oral as well as written.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position is permanent and is open from January 1st 2019.

The position as a researcher is a permanent entry-level position. After a maximum of 4 years, a researcher can be promoted to a senior researcher position after assessment.
