The Combustion and Harmful Emission Control (CHEC) Centre at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a position as researcher in the chemistry of combustion and high temperature processes.

CHEC is internationally recognized with respect to research in combustion, emission control, gasification, modelling, and advanced measurements in boilers.

The position as a researcher is a permanent entry-level position.

Responsibilities and tasks
The successful candidate will be responsible for research in combustion and high temperature processes.

Furthermore, you will 

  • contribute to development of chemical kinetic models for ignition and oxidation of alternative fuels at high pressure and elevated temperature through experimental and modelling work.
  • contribute to analytical reduction of complex reaction mechanisms for use in CFD. You will use CFD as a tool for interpreting and extrapolating experimental results obtained in pilot scale.
  • contribute to research in thermal conversion of biomass, including devolatilization and inorganic chemistry, through experimental and modelling work.
  • be responsible for co-supervision of students working on various research projects related to thermal processes.
  • set up your individual research project within the field to develop your own research profile.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have 

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) in chemical engineering (or similar).
  • Experience with laboratory high-pressure setups and gas chromatography
  • Experience with detailed mechanism development and chemical kinetic modeling
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Experience with modelling multi-phase combustion processes
  • Experience with supervising/co-supervising students and conducting research in close interaction with industry.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position as a researcher is a permanent entry-level position. After a maximum of 4 years, a researcher can be promoted to a senior researcher position after assessment. More information can be found here: Career paths at DTU
