We seek a bioinformatician to interface between our scientific units and technical team to help the delivery and adoption of software solutions supporting the research and development of new microbial strains for chemical production.

The job
At the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB) we engineer commercialization-ready “cell factories” for the production of biochemicals and therapeutics.

As a bioinformatician joining our Computational Biology unit you will use your knowledge of bioinformatics to bridge the gap between our Center’s researchers, subject matter experts and software engineering teams.

You will engage with our researchers to help them translate their processes into templates and configurations for our laboratory information management system and other scientific software. You will identify, assess and prioritize requirements and work closely with our in-house teams to translate requirements and plan the development of custom scientific software. You will train and support researchers to drive the adoption of software solutions.

Depending on your background and interests you may also prototype and collaborate on solutions for data analysis and processing of biological data with our software engineering teams.

Primary areas of responsibility

  • Meet with researchers to identify requirements and translate their scientific processes into software
  • Act as a point of contact between researchers and the information services/computational biology team and help inform designs for development, testing and implementation
  • Drive the adoption of computational biology solutions (off-the shelf implementations or custom developed software) and support them post-launch
  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and facilitate a timely resolution of issues
  • Develop user documentation and training material and conduct user training
  • Prototype and collaborate on solutions for data analysis and processing of biological data
Our expectations of you
A degree in Bioinformatics or similar or equivalent work experience in Computational Biology or Life Science and Computer Science is required. In addition, you should have the following qualifications:
  • Solid understanding of both computational and biological concepts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills — able to work with and train technical and scientific staff with different roles and professional backgrounds; willingness and patience to learn from others and understand other’s needs
  • Autonomous, structured, results oriented and self-motivated

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be - depending on your background and education - based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations, PROSA or other relevant agreements. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The workplace will at DTU Lyngby Campus.
