DTU Management Engineering invites for applications for a research assistant position in the area of traffic psychology. The research assistant will be attached to the division of Technology and Innovation Management. The division is organised within four research groups: Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship; Industrial Dynamics and Strategy; Ethics of Technology, and Human Factors. The research assistant will be affiliated with the Human Factors group, but a number of tasks will be carried out in collaboration with Transport DTU and relevant national and international stakeholders.

The research assistant will be working in the field of traffic psychology with a particular focus on road user behaviour and safety related issues. Cognitive psychology and/or social psychology are key approaches in the area but a number of different theoretical approaches to explaining and predicting human behaviour may be relevant depending on the specific problem that needs to be addressed.

Responsibilities and tasks
The research assistant is expected to support research based public sector consultancy in the area of road user behaviour and road safety. The research assistant will be involved in different tasks such as supporting the development of research based solutions to current and expected future challenges and providing research based evaluations of suggested changes and interventions in the area. Further, the research assistant will be included in ad hoc and long-term interaction with relevant national and international stakeholders as well as tasks to ensure a wider knowledge exchange with society.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a master’s degree in psychology, engineering or equivalent.

You must have a strong interest in providing research based high quality public sector consultancy on a broad range of topics and to contribute to the wider knowledge exchange with society at large. Proven abilities to conduct research based public sector consultancy as well as proven abilities to disseminate research results to a broad audience of stakeholders written and orally is an advantage.

  • You have excellent communication skills, fluent written and oral Danish. English language skills are required at a level where you are able to communicate (written and orally) with relevant Danish stakeholders about complex issues.
  • You have the ability to work results-driven and effectively towards external and self-imposed deadlines.
  • You have the ability to learn fast and an interest in providing an overview of a new and complex field.
  • You are driven by an interest in exploring and develop research based solutions to safety related problems in the area of road safety and human behavior.
  • You thrive on collaboration and teamwork and take personal responsibility for your work.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years, starting from November 2018.
