DTU Nanotech conducts research, education and innovation within micro- and nanotechnologies across a wide range of scientific disciplines consisting of: materials fabrication, optics, chemistry, nanomedicine and biotechnology. Our research is centred around the development of new soft materials for various tissue engineering applications and with far-reaching applications into the field of drug-delivery and electronic displays. The position calls upon a postdoc who is willing to do cross-domain research at crossroads of disciplines such as biology, chemistry and physics.

The position as a researcher is a permanent entry-level position.

The researcher expects to participate in the R&D of new biomaterials for tissue engineering and healthcare technology applications. The main focus will be on the manufacture of self-healing, tough and electroactive hydrogels for bone tissue engineering.

Responsibilities and tasks
The position is all about the development of the next-generation of smart biomaterials by tapping into the fields of material science and electrochemistry. You will be working closely with biologist and tissue engineers within our group to implement these materials in various healthcare technology applications.

Your key responsibilities will be the following: 

  • Chemical synthesis of various polymers and compounds
  • Manufacturing of soft materials – mostly hydrogel-based ones.
  • Development of self-healing and smart biomaterials

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

It is important that the candidate have some postdoc experience with the R&D of tissue engineering and healthcare technology related hydrogels. Special emphasis is put on candidates with the allowing attributes: 

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Know how to use Prism, illustrator and Microsoft office/excel
  • Good analytic abilities

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position as a researcher is a permanent entry-level position. After a maximum of 4 years, a researcher can be promoted to a senior researcher position after assessment. More information can be found here: Career paths at DTU.
