Postdoc position is available in organic synthesis of novel fluorescent dyes, chelators and carbohydrate gel compounds for use in cancer therapy at DTU Nanotech.

Would you like to be part of a large team of cancer biologists, drug formulation scientists, synthetic chemists and biomaterial engineers that wish to find new solutions for treating cancer by developing novel markers for radiotherapy and surgical guidance?

The purpose of the positions is to be part of a highly driven and cross-disciplinary research environment consisting of skilled researchers. You will be part of a project with an overall focus on developing advanced biomaterials for cancer therapy striving to achieve better curative regimes.

The position is available immediately, and the applications will be considered on an ongoing basis until the position is filled. 

Qualifications
The candidates should preferably have a strong background in organic and preferably carbohydrate synthesis. The projects will involve the use of organic chemistry techniques for the development of fluorescent dyes and chelators as well as formulation of in situ forming depots visible in a broad range of image modalities, to be used for guidance in radiotherapy or surgery. The biomaterials will be tested in vitro/ex vivo and in vivo in animal models evaluating proof of concept in collaboration with other scientists in the group.

The applicants should hold a PhD degree or equivalent in a relevant field, preferably within organic chemistry and should have a strong interest in working experimentally in a cross-disciplinary environment and have very good collaboration skills. Strong communication skills are an advantage and a strong academic record is a requirement. Applicants should strive towards scientific excellence, be ambitious and hard working. Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 23 months. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
