DTU has broad experience in serving the authorities in the form of advisory, monitoring and preparedness.
Within the climate area, the Climate DTU Unit performs advisory tasks for the Danish authorities and has contributed to the modeling behind The Danish Commission on Climate Change Policy’s report from 2010.
DTU has expanded its advice to authorities and industry to promote international and national climate targets. The required technological effort for handling the climate challenge has three elements: mitigation, adaptation and climate change impacts.
In coming years both the national, regional and local authorities face a great job with formulating new climate policies. DTU provides the scientific knowledge and advice and supports the necessary political decisions and administrative regulations within the climate area.
The Climate DTU Unit coordinates cooperation with all relevant researchers and research groups at DTU and acts as a single entry point to DTU’s consultancy expertise on the climate area.
The Climate DTU Unit has strong and unique competencies in modeling and quantitative technical and economical analysis of energy and climate issues in Denmark, Scandinavia and globally in relation to greenhouse gas emissions, economy, regional climate impacts and adaptation strategies.
The DTU Climate Unit plays a leading role in international and Danish scientific assessments on within the climate area, and has established synergies between several research areas at DTU with regard to climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation.
