Studying in Denmark

A highly international study destination

With more than 500 degree programmes and 1,000 courses taught in English, Danish higher education is highly international. While Danish is the official language of Denmark, most Danes speak English at a high level, making everyday life stress free for international students.

An innovative teaching style

Danish higher education combines traditional academic excellence with teaching that will make you think, debate, collaborate and experiment your way to greater knowledge.

The danish learning culture emphasizes that learning is not only the acquisition of knowledge, but also the development of non-cognitive skills like self-reliance, trust in others, empathy and team-spirit. Thus, open debate, social interaction, self-governance and personal responsibility is a driving force at all levels.

Students are encouraged to carry out their own research, deal critically with the subject matter, and work with others to achieve a common goal. For some international students, this can introduce a whole new way of studying – one that will let them grow in knowledge, confidence and the ability to think creatively and contribute independently as part of a group.

A range of student services

International students in Denmark are supported by their host institution in a number of ways. Many institutions offer exchange students assistance with finding a place to live, introduction to the Danish way of teaching, study and career advice, learning Danish, etc.

Free medical care

With one of the lowest crime in the world, Denmark is a safe country with an extensive welfare system that offers international students free medical care during their study in Denmark.
