This focus area will provide you with a strong theoretical and practical background in applied mathematics. The topics are chosen so as to be readily applicable to many different areas in engineering and science. The topics form a blend of partly classical areas, and partly new areas that are expected to play a significant role in engineering in the future. We focus on:
1) dynamical systems and differential equations,
2) functional analysis, generalized Fourier analysis and inverse problems, and
3) optimization.
