The new visitor centre situated at the National Test Centre for Large Wind Turbines at Østerild will be officially opened on September 9th 2017. Lars Christian Lilleholt, Minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate, will participate in the opening.
There is good news for the many thousand visitors, who visit the National Test Centre for Large Wind Turbines in Østerild every year.
Around 30.000 visitors travel to the site every year to see the wind turbines being installed og to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the Northern Jutland.
On September 9th 2017, the new visitor centre will be officially opened. It is Realdania, Thisted Kommune, Danish Wind Industry Association and DTU Wind Energy, who have been in charge of the building. At the new visitor centre, visitors will be able to find information about the wind turbines placed right outside the windows as well as gaining more knowledge about wind energy in itself.
”The new visitor centre is important for Thisted Kommune, because the citizens and tourists now have the opportunity to gain more knowledge about the test centre in itself, but also knowledge about the life of animals and plants surrounding the centre,” the mayor of Thisted Kommune, Lene Kjelgaard Jensen, stated previously.
More focus on wind energy
The National Test Centre for Large Wind Turbines in Østerild was officially opened in October 2012. Tourists from Denmark and foreign countries rush to the site, and until now they have been met by posters and pamphlets. Nevertheless, in the future it will be a more professional setting.
“At DTU Wind Energy we look forward to being able to provide visitors with a proper presentation of the activities at the test centre. In addition, we are pleased that visitors will be able to find information about wind energy in Denmark and globally. Further, we look forward to getting better facilities for meetings, where the industry can welcome Danish and foreign guests,” says Peter Hjuler Jensen, Deputy Head of Department at DTU Wind Energy.
