After several years in the pipeline, the new visitor centre at the National Test Centre for Large Wind Turbines in Østerild was opened with up to 900 visitors at the inauguration on Saturday, 9 September.

Lars Christian Lilleholt, the Danish Minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate, cut the traditional red tape and said:

“A centre of this kind must be functional. It should be used by both DTU and the developers testing the wind turbines, while also serving as a platform from which to communicate information about wind, wind power, and green energy to visitors from near and far.”

Proud president
A visibly proud DTU President, Anders Bjarklev, took the floor after the Minister:

“The test centre in Østerild consolidates Denmark's leading position within energy and wind energy, in particular. This is a world-class accomplishment which we can all be very proud of.”
