Lecture by Dr. Yang Zhang, Zhejiang University, China

Title
Integrated optoelectronic chip for multifunctional biomedical sensors

Abstract
Integrated optoelectronic biosensors have been playing an increasingly important role in point-of-care testing and research of lab-on-a-chip systems because of their high sensitivities, high reliabilities, rapid responses, small sizes, low costs and immunity to electromagnetic interference. This talk will focus on the works demonstrated by Center for Integrated Optoelectronics, Zhejiang University in recent years. The main contents of the talk include: a) nano-structure and nano-surface modification; b) optical sensing chip design; c) on-chip micro spectrometers.

Biography
Yang Zhang is mainly engaged in the research of optical waveguide sensor and hybrid integration scheme of the SOI platform. The group he is involved in, called Center for Integrated Optoelectronics of Zhejiang University and led by Prof. Jianjun He, has been mainly focusing on semiconductor lasers, multifunctional integrated photonic devices for optical communications, biomedical sensing and environmental monitoring. Yang Zhang will get his PhD degree soon from Zhejiang University.
