DTU Compute’s Section for Embedded Systems Engineering (ESE), invites applications for an appointment as postdoc for 1 year within the area of Blockchain Technologies. The position is available from 1 June 2019 or according to mutual agreement.

Our department DTU Compute is an internationally unique academic environment spanning the science disciplines mathematics, statistics and computer science. At the same time we are an engineering department covering informatics and communication technologies (ICT) in their broadest sense. The aim of the new position is to expand the department’s research in the area of Blockchain Technologies.

Responsibilities and tasks
The postdoc position is framed in the context of the Danish national project “Bottom-up blockchain-værdikæder i fødevaresektoren” (Bottom-up blockchain value chains in the food sector) funded by Industriens Fond (Industry Foundation). The main goal of the project is to investigate the adoption of blockchain technologies in the food sector.  Real world business case scenarios from the Danish food industry will be carried out in the project.

The specific objective of the postdoc position is to support the project from a technical perspective, by designing a blockchain-based system that showcases how blockchain technologies can be used to improve the value chains in the food sector.
Therefore, this will include at least the following tasks: 

  • Specification of desired functional and non-functional requirements of the system
  • Selection of appropriate blockchain technologies
  • Design of a blockchain-based system that meets the requirements.
  • Coordinate a number of MSc students on blockchain-related research
Other content of the position
There will be an opportunity to do teaching at the master’s level; the position may also involve handling administrative tasks to a limited extent.

  • Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or similar, is required
  • Background on distributed systems and/or cyber-security is a plus
  • The ability to develop theoretical solutions followed by a concrete prototype is considered a plus
  • Teaching experience in related subjects is considered a plus
  • Participation in academic collaborations in relevant areas
  • Relevant publication track record

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The position is a full-time position.
