Artificial Intelligence and Data

Artificial intelligence (AI) will totally change the way people use technology and give us completely new possibilities for changing and improving our world. For example, we can use artificial intelligence to develop new medicinal products, revolutionize our transport systems, and create new forms of teaching which provide everyone with opportunities for lifelong learning. Artificial intelligence will be a central part of our future—and as an engineer specializing in artificial intelligence, you will be designing this future.

 

What will you learn?

Based on mathematics, physics, statistics, cognition, and computer science, you will learn to work systematically with data and software, and you will master the many tools that form the basis of modern AI. You will gain an insight into the principles behind learning algorithms—how computers learn from data, make decisions, and communicate with users, and you will be able to equip computers with the abilities that lie at the core of our own intelligence. The study programme also provides you with insight into cognitive psychology and social mechanisms as a basis for designing and evaluating intelligent systems, also in relation to ethics and privacy.

 

Study programme structure

As a student on the Artificial Intelligence and Data programme, you will receive a complete AI toolbox from the outset, so that you can experiment with AI examples on your own computer throughout the study programme. For example with AI which can read your facial expressions, understand what you say, and help you navigate complex data, in areas such as medicine or social media. Teaching alternates between classes, exercises, and project work in groups, and between theory and specific cases. Particularly in connection with case-based work, you will—already as a student—work closely with the Danish companies which use AI.

 

Career opportunities

In combination with an MSc programme, you will acquire knowledge and competences which are both highly useful and in great demand on the labour market. As digitization becomes ever more widespread, AI will become an essential developmental component in virtually every sector, and—as an engineer specializing in AI—you will play a central role. There is currently great demand for AI engineers in the medico-pharmaceutical industry, manufacturing, banking, IT, and the transport sector—and many new start-ups employ engineers with AI skills. There is good reason to expect that—after you have completed your studies—you will become an engineer with many options on the labour market.
