A 2.5-month position as research assistant is available in chemical biology at the Department of Chemistry, Technical University of Denmark, starting from November 1st, 2020. The project will be supervised by Assistant Professor Katrine Qvortrup. 

The project is a collaboration between DTU and the Costerton Biofilm Center, Panum, University of Copenhagen. The research project is within development of new treatment strategies for chronic infections caused by bacteria. 

Responsibilities and tasks
The main responsibilities involve the chemical synthesis of out lead compound, as well as investigation of information about its formulation, absorption, distribution, metabolization, and excretion.

You will work in a team with one postdoc, 4 PhD-students and another research assistant and collaborate with experts in microbial aetiology of biofilm, cell biology, and animal models. You are expected to work independently and coordinate your research with the other team members. 

Qualifications 
Candidates should have a master’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent 

  • Candidates should have a strong experimental background in organic chemistry.
  • An interest in chemical biology and a desire to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • A strong commitment to research.
  • Enthusiasm for working with research students.
  • Independence and good communication skills.

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2.5 months.
