If you are looking to step up with you career and combine physical models with advanced data driven models, this is the right position for you. The Dynamical Systems section (DynSys) within DTU Compute has a group of 25 people working on the energy system applications, helping to advance the green energy transition. Many of your potential colleagues have strong competencies in data driven models. However, in order to test the advanced controls, we need well-made simulation environments. Hence, we are looking for an eager researcher who is not afraid of combining different fields in order to help us build simulation environments in Dymola. Responsibilities
Your overall focus will be working on applied research projects. Within this position you will create buildings’ models (including hydraulic modelling) and oversee setting up the simulation environments, validating the models, testing the advanced controls, and applying it to the real systems. From time to time, you will help write project proposals. You are not expected to teach ithis position.


Further responsibilities include:

  • you will create models of air-cooled data centers in Dymola, Modelica
  • you will model buildings, such as schools and residential buildings, including the HVAC systems, using the Dymola fluyd library- you will collaborate on your tasks with the colleagues from the group
  • you will proactively suggest improvements in the modelling approaches to your colleagues
  • you will collaborate with different partners, including companies
  • you will contribute to supervision of bachelor, master and PhD students.

Qualifications:

  • You have extensive experience in modelling in Dymola and you have possibly experience with the IBPSA building Modelica library
  • You understand physical models well, and you are familiar with developing hydraulic models (heat transmission, fluid pressure etc. are included in your modeling tasks)
  • You have experience in modeling systems by means of monitoring data
  • You have experience in tuning white-box models
  • You have experience in applying your work to energy systems
  • Possibly, you have experience with the Functional Mockup Interface, which you possibly used for Software in the Loop or Hardware in the Loop purposes.
  • Possibly, you have experience in co-simulation or Hardware in the Loop
  • C++, Python Knowledge, R knowledge are a strong plus, but not a requirement

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 

The period of employment is one year. Starting date is 1 February 2022 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
