We are looking for a skilled and highly innovative assay developer, with strong experience in method development. Someone with excellent organisational skills who can independently initiate and coordinate new projects, whilst maintaining overview and high assay quality.

Centre for Diagnostics (CfD) DTU
The Centre harbors a group that develops new and innovative diagnostic assays in collaboration with DTU institutes, hospitals, universities and the biotech industry. Our technologies are used for biomarker detection, point of care devices (POCT) and other solutions in hospitals. We also develop methods for the agriculture and fish farming industry and our work benefits both people and animals, and thus creates broad value for society.

In addition, CfD operates a commercial diagnostic business, mainly within PCR and serological diagnostics serving hospitals and the veterinary sector.

The job
The position primarily involves the development of new diagnostic methods in project collaboration with hospitals, - universities, DTU institutes and the biotech industry. You will be responsible for coordinating several of these projects by managing method development in the laboratory, securing contracts and other documentation, and you will be responsible for communicating with external stakeholders. Your work will be done in close collaboration with group members involved in similar projects and you will be expected to do hands-on laboratory work with the assistance of our laboratory staff. Moreover, we expect you to stay up-to-date and contribute with, knowledge of the latest state-of-the art diagnostic methods.

The department works quality-assured in accordance with ISO standards, and quality assurance is therefore an important element of working with us.

You will be based in the CfD Development Group that currently consist of an assay developer, a lab technician, two molecular biologist and a postdoc, and soon a business developer. We aim to expand in parallel with our portfolio of projects.

Our expectations for you
We expect you to have the following background and competencies:

  • A Ph.D. in molecular biology, immunology or similar
  • Solid hands-on experience with molecular and immunological techniques such as immune-based assays, LFA development, SPR, RT-qPCR and sequencing
  • Several years of experience with method development, assay optimization, validation and implementation
  • A strong mindset for working quality assured
  • Experience with independent project coordination and budgeting
  • Experience with coordinating the work of laboratory technicians
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Efficient and solution-oriented
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

Salary and appointment terms
The successful candidate will be employed at DTU in a full-time position. Starting date is as soon as possible.

Terms of appointment and payment according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC) or any other relevant agreement. 

The place of work is primarily Centre for Diagnostics, DTU Health Tech in Lyngby, Building 202.
