DTU Health Tech is looking for an experienced formulation specialist to join our BII project team working with Locally Sustained Gene Therapy. Experience with lipid and polymer nanoparticle formulations and in vitro cell testing is required.

The job
We are developing novel platform technologies for improved and physiologically adapted gene transfection. The first technologies are focused on transfections systems for cancer immunotherapy.

The successful candidate will join our team of scientists in formulation strategies for delivery of RNA- and DNA-based transfection systems. The candidate will contribute to analysis and quality control of the transfection systems using dynamic light scattering, HPLC, and fluorescence spectroscopy. Additionally, in vitro transfection of cells and flowcytometric analysis will be vital to support the team’s progress.


  • Assist the formulation of RNA and DNA transfection vectors
  • Participate in development of depot formulations for release of transfection vectors
  • Contribute to stability studies
  • Assist the bench testing of formulations
  • Provide input in evaluation of in vitro transfection efficiency in cell cultures.
  • Contribute to documentation and communication of obtained results.  

Our expectations of you
You must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) ideally in chemistry, pharmaceutical or biological science with a focus on formulation and biological evaluation of drug delivery systems.


  • Knowledge of lipid and polymeric nanoparticles
  • Experience with HPLC analysis and dynamic light scattering
  • Experience with fluorescence spectroscopy
  • Experience with cell cytotoxicity assays and flow cytometry analysis
  • Knowledge of relevant biological targets for cancer therapy is an advantage

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union according to your experience and seniority (either Academic Officer or Senior Officer).  

We offer a one-year contract starting 1 August 2021 (or according to mutual agreement).
