Protein Chemistry - Study line
Protein Chemistry
This Master of Science study programme has been established to meet the increasing need of protein chemists in academia and industrial branches of medicine, pharmacy, food science, and biotechnology. This study line is specifically aimed to provide the students in-depth knowledge of the structure-function relationship of proteins and the techniques used to produce and characterize them.
Courses are offered at different DTU departments to ensure that all aspects of Protein Chemistry are covered. Topics include, but are not limited to, molecular biology, protein expression and purification, immunology, structural biology and in-silico protein modelling.
Biochemistry or life science course(s) taken on an undergraduate level would be advantageous when entering this study line.
The course 26125 (Chromatograhpie Purification of Biological Macromolecules) is an essential course that provides theory and hans-on experience on purification strategies
Programme Provisions
To complete the study line in Protein Chemistry, the students must fulfill the following requirements:
- Have passed General Competence Courses adding up to at least 30 ECTS points
- Have passed Technological Specialization Courses adding up to at least 30 ECTS
- Have performed a Master Thesis of at least 30 ECTS
