Title: Combined Wind Farm Layout and Control Optimization
In this project different combined wind farm layout and control optimization approaches improving AEP has been compared. To do this a platform was created based on the wind farm optimization software TOPFARM using the AEP calculator PyWake using the Fuga wake model and a surrogate wind turbine model based on simulations results from a HAWCStab2 model of the Vestas V80 2MW wind turbine type. 

Sequential and nested combined optimization approaches has been compared for test wind farms con- sisting of 4, 9, and 16 turbines. The sequential combined optimization approach consistently performed better. The nested optimiza- tion approach was less capable of optimizing resulting in smaller AEP improvements using orders of magnitudes longer to carry out optimizations.
