In a recent article published in Optics Express, we report on the energy level dynamics of single photon emitters in the 2-dimensional material hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN). By recording the second-order correlation function and applying a rate-equation model, we are able to describe the dynamics from the sub-nanosecond to the millisecond regime.
