Twice a year, DTU welcomes new PhD students to the University. On 1 October, beer from DTU’s own brewery—and staff from Study Programmes and Student Affairs—was on hand to bid a warm welcome to 150 new PhD students.
”DTU enrols over 400 PhD students each year—of which half are international students”, says Aase Grundtvig, Head of Study Programmes and Student Affairs, and continues: “DTU works hard to ensure that everyone feels welcome and are successfully integrated in the various departments.”
Martin P. Bensøe, Dean of Graduate Studies and International Affairs, warned the students that the next three years are going to be tough and that they might feel under a lot of pressure. “Pushing yourself to the limit is part and parcel of being a researcher. But you need to set aside time to cultivate your social network and to embrace the help offered by DTU. Learning your own limitations and how to plan your time are valuable life lessons that will stand you in good stead in your future career.”
