An innovation event focusing on sustainability was held at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) during the visit by a Danish delegation to Korea.
On 20-22 May, about 40 students from Denmark and South Korea took part in a Danish-styled innovation event at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Here, they competed to develop innovative sustainability concepts for VELUX, Hempel, and the Korean company SK Energy.
The event was the result of a collaboration between KAIST, DTU, and Innovation Centre Denmark, and was part of an official visit by a Danish delegation to South Korea led by the Crown Prince and Princess to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
As Director for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Senior Vice President Marianne Thellersen helped to assess the student’s results:

The innovation event at KAIST was developed in close collaboration with DTU Skylab as a knowledge partner. The competition is an extension of DTU Skylab’s collaboration with KAIST and Innovation Centre Denmark in connection with the young initiative Next Generation P4G, and which was part of the international P4G Copenhagen Summit last year.
Students from KAIST, DTU and other study programmes participated at the innovation event at the South Korean university. And the teams were composed of students from different disciplines and with different nationalities.
Important alliance partner
KAIST is Korea’s leading technical university, and one of DTU’s most important alliance partners. For more than 10 years, the two universities have been working together on the development of green technologies. The new agreement, which was signed last year, sees more focus being directed at the cooperation between the two universities on research and education within sustainable technology development.
