German Design Award to DTU's design

Prestigious German design award for DTU

DTU's design agency Urgent.Agency has won a German Design Award for revitalizing, updating and further developing DTU's visual and corporate identity.

The German Design Award is the German Design Council's international award, which is given to projects that represent pioneering efforts in the international design landscape. A high-profile international jury appoints the winner among the nominated projects.

Urgent.Agency has received the award in the category 'Excellent Communications Design - Corporate Identity'.

Mads Quistgaard, director of Urgent.Agency, tells about the design:: Award 2020

"We have helped to update DTU's brand identity so that it is more suitable and contemporary for DTU as a technical elite university of the future. After 10 years with a strong visual identity, which had a solid expression in the analogue world, DTU has now been given a new basic narrative and a visual identity that fits a more digital and human DTU. We have sharpened the best of it existing design. "

The German Design Award's jury will comment on the award:

"The design for the new brand presence puts people in the centre and presents itself as vibrantly fresh, youthful and digital, with a modern selection of imagery, made up of contemporary illustrations and a high-quality photo aesthetic."

The award brings DTU into a distinguished company, as companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Barolo and Porsche, who work with completely different design budgets than universities, are also among the winners.

The work with an updated brand identity took place at the end of 2018 in collaboration with DTU's communications bureau We Love People and the illustrator agency Benny Box.
