Summary of experience Adriaan Schelling, through his various appointments with public authorities obtained a comprehensive knowledge on road safety. He has more than 30 years of experience in advising planning and design organizations on traffic-safety issues, both in urban and rural areas. Until 2015, he was a Senior Adviser in road safety in The Road Directorate’s Office for Traffic Safety. As the initiator and project manager, he has been responsible for the implementation of the system of road safety audit in the Danish road sector. He has conducted safety audits since the start of the project in 1992. He is a Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark, Center for Bachelor of Engineering Studies' section of Building and Civil Engineering and in the Danish Road Sector's Postgraduate Training and Education Program where he participated in the training of all road safety auditors in Denmark. He has also over the years taught at the Danish Road Directorate's training program for foreign engineers. Until 2015, Adriaan Schelling was the chairman of the Road Standard Group on Road Safety and a member of Road Standard Group on the design of roads and paths in rural areas. He has also been a member of Road Standard Group on the design of roads and paths in urban areas and of Road Standard Group on road and bridge safety barriers.
