Food Microbiology Gut Microbiome

Tine Rask Licht (TRL) is the institute director at the DTU National Food Institute and professor of gut microbiology. She holds an Executive MBA degree (2025) in management of technology. She has supervised over 30 Ph.D. students, is the author of numerous scientific articles in top-ranking journals, and is listed as a highly cited researcher by Clarivate in 2025 . She leads the research project PRIMA, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and co-leads the Microbiome Health Initiative Microbiome Health Initiative, which brings together leading microbiome researchers from Denmark and abroad in a virtual center focusing on the role of the gut microbiome in metabolic diseases. She has received the Knight’s Cross for her research and the Danisco Prize for her contribution to improving foods. TRL is from 2026 a member of the board of the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF). She was member of the Danish Council for Independent Research for Technology and Production (FTP) from 2009 to 2014. She has been a member of the academic council at DTU for several periods. She is an active popular science communicator, having contributed to numerous podcasts, radio, and TV programs, and is the author of the book “Gut Feelings and Microbiology”.
