Partial reopening in phases

Phase 2 - 18 May
In phase 2 of the reopening, from 18 May, it is possible to carry out teaching and exams with requirements for physical attendance at DTU. However, DTU will continue to be subject to an overall framework for how many students, teachers and staff must be present at the same time. The details, specific guidelines, etc. for the partial reopening in phase 2 will be clarified and determined this week in a dialogue between the Ministry of Education and Research and Danish Universities

Phase 2 expansion - 27 May

Entails a full opening of public research, which requires physical presence. At the same time, higher education will again be able to conduct oral exams physically as well as teaching activities that require physical attendance.

In the field of education and research, the agreement entails:

  • Much of the research has already been reopened. Full reopening of public research requiring physical presence is now underway from 27 May. This applies to all researchers as a starting point, while educational institutions assess the specific need for attendance, taking into account the health professional recommendations.
  • Higher education can conduct oral exams physically as well as teaching activities that require physical attendance. Many exams are still expected to be completed online.
  • All public employees, except in the Capital Region and Region Zealand, can return on 27 May.
  • Full reopening of higher education in phase 4, expected in early August.

The agreement has the following implications for DTU:

As most of DTU's research has been experimentally directed, it is expected that from 27 May, we can begin to normalize the university, taking into account the stricter requirements of the health authorities. Thus, it is expected that a large part of DTU's researchers and technical administrative staff will be able to return to work, while the administrative staff for the majority of them will unfortunately still have to work from home.

However, this does not apply to DTU's activities in Jutland, where we expect full reopening of the administrative functions from 27 May, ie. in Silkeborg, Nykøbing Mors, Hirtshals, Høvsøre ??and Østerild again, taking into account the stricter demands of the health authorities.

As far as all teaching and exams are concerned, it will be completed as planned this semester, hoping for a full reopening in phase 4.

The detailed framework and guidelines for the expanded reopening will be clarified and determined in a dialogue between the Ministry of Education and Research and the Danish Universities.

Phase 3 - 8 June

It is premature to say exactly how phase 3 will be implemented for the universities. But DTU expects that the authorities will establish a general framework for how many people must be present at DTU simultaneously, registration and documentation of the number of people present, and new and adjusted guidelines for distance, cleaning, etc.

Phase 4
In phase 4 of the reopening, a full opening of all programmes is expected. At present, it is unclear what the framework will be. Finally, both stages 3 and 4 depend on whether the epidemic is under control.
