My main working area are scientific based advisory and research activities concerning organic process contaminants in foods. I am the Director of the European Union Reference Laboratory for Processing Contaminants (EURL-PC). The process related contaminants include compounds like furan, 2-methylfuran and 3-methylfuran and 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol and their esters. Furthermore, research related to levels and human dietary intake of the contaminants and I acts as the Danish national reference laboratory for organochlorine pesticides in foodstuff of animal origin.
