Professor
emeritus of Hydrology and Water Resources at the Department of
Environmental Engineering, DTU. Obtained an MSc in
Civil Engineering 1969, a PhD in Hydrology 1973, and was
conferred the degree Dr. Techn. in 1993. Acted as Head of
the Institute of Hydrodynamics and Water Resources 1978-89 and
Director of the Groundwater Research Centre (a research centre of
excellence) 1989-2001. Was President of the water resources systems
commission of the International Association of Hydrological
Sciences (IAHS) 2001-2005, and Vice-president of IAHS
2007-2011. Has during 1986-2011 been Editor the international
scientific journal Hydrology Research (before 2008 denoted
Nordic Hydrology). Current research interests include development
of hydrological models at different scales; flood and droughts;
model parameterisation and uncertainty; sustainability assessment;
and optimisation of water resources. Has published more than 100
refereed papers.
